Day 5 ~ Urgent Plea for Prayer
“Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him” (Acts 12:5).
King Herod seized Peter during the Feast of Unleavened Bread. He was placed in jail and handed over to four soldiers. There were plans to have him brought before the public after the Passover. Peter was in a bad situation, but the church was praying.
During your 31 days, you never know whom you may be praying for. Yes, you may be praying for someone specifically, but I guarantee that you are also praying for individuals you do not know. If we are praying community, our prayers may change from, “Lord, bless my family,” to “Lord, bless the community.” Someone in the community may need that prayer of blessing at that particular time and because you prayed they were blessed.
As you drive by a school your prayers may be, “Lord, open the mind of my son/daughter to learn and gain knowledge.” When praying community your prayer may change to say, “Lord, open the minds of all the students to learn and gain knowledge.” Because of your change in prayer many more students’ minds around the world may open to learn and gain knowledge. Isn’t that beautiful?
As in the Scripture, when we pray, things can happen suddenly! SUDDENLY … “Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. ‘Quick, get up!’ he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists” (Acts 12:7).
Because of your faithfulness. Because you made a commitment to pray. Because people are joining you in prayer … your SUDDENLY is here. Today experience a God encounter. Today experience a miracle.
Miracles Are an Amazing Event No Matter How Big or Small ~ Tweetable @GailDudley #PrayerfullySavvy
Everyone is talking about Facebook! It has become an ongoing media narrative. Russia or not. Hacked accounts or not. Ads or not. Going live or not. People are encountering others in real time. You may encounter an argument. You may encounter debates. You may encounter old friends. You may encounter new friends. You may encounter news articles both good and bad. It’s a social media platform that is allowing you to experience an encounter, however, it is not the encounter I am speaking of for this post. Encounters on social media are at times false impressions and have only a temporary lifeline.
It’s time to have an encounter with God all day…every day. It does not matter if it is a small miracle or a large miracle. Miracles still happen!
What encounter have you had today? Yesterday? Last week? What encounter are you expecting tomorrow? Please join the conversation and share in the comment section.

I desire an encounter with God every single day! I noticed that when my heart became more open to praying community I began to really feel like a part of the community as a whole and doors started opening to bless and be blessed. You’re so right Gail, it is a beautiful thing!
What sticks out most to me is the fact that you truly never know who you might be praying for! To understand that when we are praying for one another and covering each other the enemy has no hold on us! I’ve seen miracles happen and people be healed simply by being obedient to prayer. It’s such an awesome thing to be apar today!
