Day 7: The Reality of Demonic Possession ~
Sometimes there is confusion with the demonic and other natural forces at work in the world. Not everything can be attributed to demons, but may be in reality forms of mental illness and chemical imbalance. The enemys work against God and God’s people is limited, as he is only able to corrupt, confuse and counterfeit, but never control, conquer or create. Here’s the truth:
1) Can oppose but not overcome
(Rev. 9:14; 12:11; 16:14, 1 John 2:13, Eph 6:11)
2) Can oppress but not possess
(Matt. 9:33, Acts 10:38, Luke 13:11-16)
3) Can influence but not control
(Matt. 4:1-3, 1 Chronicles 21:1, Acts 5:3)
4) Can afflict but not destroy
(Job 2:7, Luke 13:16, 1 John 5:18, Isa. 54:17)
5) Can tempt but not coerce
(1 Cor. 7:5, 2 Cor. 2:10-11, 1 Thes. 3:5, 1 Timothy 5:15)
6) Can attack but not defeat
(Eph. 6:10-18, 1 Peter 5:8, Romans 8:28-39)
7) Can interfere but not stop
(Daniel 10:10-14, Matthew 13:19, James 4:7, 1 Thes. 2:18)
8) Can accuse but not condemn
(Job 1:12-2:13, 1 Timothy 3:16; 4:1, Romans 8:1, Rev. 12:10)
9) Can confuse but not convince
(2 Thes. 2:9, Rev. 12:9, 2 Cor. 11:14)
The enemys job is to work against unbelievers:
~ Can blind and deceive
(Genesis 3:1-6, Matt. 13:19, 2 Cor. 2:11; 4:4; 11:3; 14, 15)
~ Can possess and influence (Matt. 9:32-33; 16:23, John 13:2, 27, Eph. 2:2)
Take the rest of this week and work through each point and the Scriptures.
