Urgent Plea for Prayer

“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him” 1 John 4:16 (ESV).

While writing today’s devotional in the book Urgent Plea for Prayer, I could not help but think about the song I grew up on in church Jesus Loves Me. I immediately started singing the song and began crying thinking about just how much Jesus loves me. Then I paused long enough to start thinking about the fact that He not only loves me, but He also loves you. During this season of urgency, we must remember just how much Jesus loves us.

Let’s send messages of “LOVE” today. As we continue to pray for one another, may we remember that Jesus has a special love for each one of us individually. Pray for the posture of love. If we love others, we cannot help but pray for them. Someone needs to know they are loved. Let’s pray throughout today for our family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, people in homes as we drive down the streets, students in school as we walk or drive pass schools, and for children as we see them playing outside. We do not have to lay hands on people. All we have to do is pray. Here’s what is beautiful. They don’t even know that we are praying for them.

Your prayer can be as simple as saying, “God, bless them. Let Your light shine upon them. Keep them safe today. Let Your children know that You love them. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.” Nothing deep. I’m afraid that some times we make things so complicated. You do know that your prayer could be whispering the name of Jesus. His name alone is powerful.

Take time to reflect on the love God has for you.

Take time today to search the Scriptures of His love.

Take a highlighter and circle each love Scripture.

Take an index card and write, “God loves me!” and place this in an area that you can view regularly.
